Training Part 2

In this section, we focus on the concept behind the term decent work . After completing this chapter, you will know how the concept of decent work was born, what its main assumptions are, and which documents and institutions are responsible for its implementation. In this section, we also consider how the concept of decent work relates to the reality we know and what challenges the Polish labor market will face in the near future.

STEP 1

Before we move on to discussing how the concept of decent work is defined in the documents of the International Labour Organization, we propose a moment of reflection based on the following questions:

What does “decent work” mean to you?

What conditions must be met for you to recommend a given workplace to someone close to you?

What do you think is unacceptable in the workplace and in relationships with your employer?

What job would you describe as your ideal job?

We suggest you write down your answers so that you can later compare them with the records in official documents and with the answers of people participating in project meetings.

STEP 2

It’s time to review the training presentation. You can view it on the website or open it in a new window by clicking the enlarge icon in the upper right corner of the presentation. We invite you to read on and wish you fruitful work.

STEP 3

If you’ve already read the presentation, we invite you to take a short quiz. This quiz will help you test your memory and reinforce key information. The quiz consists of five multiple-choice questions. After answering all questions, click the SUBMIT button (below the last question) and then the SHOW RESULT button (displayed after submitting your answers) to see how many points you’ve earned.
